SSDD

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7936817.stm

Now how might this have been different if the teachers were armed? I don't know if they're allowed or not in Germany and don't have time to do the research.

However, given this article my hunch is they aren't allowed.
http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/187558,germany-tightens-gun-control-laws.html

In fact the reason the article describes the need for gun control sounds reminiscent of the reason behind Germany's 1928 gun control laws. See the post earlier today, Nazis and guns.

Nazi's and Guns

In this time of "economic morass" and with a government that seems to want to do everything for us, I think the last paragraph is one of the more important ones in this brief essay.

I like this idea

Local pro-gun groups visibly being a part of the community is a good thing. Well done.

Founding father's attitude != current "leaders" attitude

"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on the objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents." -- James Madison

Kudos to Bob for delivering up this quote and to Mr. Madison for saying it in the first place

One quote that we'd do well to remember

"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money."
-- Alexis de Tocqueville

If we don't reclaim our right to self determination I fear our days as a republic are numbered.

Great essay

It's not a read for the faint of heart; there are poly-syllabic words and in copious quantities. However the essay does a great job of breaking down some fundamental principles into a format that you can absorb. This is perfect if you've known you have the right to defend yourself, but you could never quite explain why it felt so "right" to you.

It was written in the 90s so some of the facts on laws are outdated now.

Neat research on the most free states

Found this on another blog, I can't remember which or I'd give them credit. I haven't had time to look at it in detail but I'm not surprised NH is at the top.

All the kings horses and all the kings men...

couldn't put humpty dumpty together again.

The lack of logic in our leadership leaves me aghast. What exactly do they think is going to happen? If they break the motivations for people to work then they are not going to work... Certainly not to fund agendas they don't agree with!

We can talk all we want about social this and social that, in the end nature and natural systems control our world and NOTHING changes that. Not the fascination with Obama, not fancy words, nothing. If you spend more than you make, you lose money, if you don't prepare for the future it will hurt you. This isn't a fantasy land and our government is not preparing and continues to blindly think they can do what they want and that it will have no fall out... I don't get it.

Are you serious

Is this really what our founding fathers had in mind when they gave the federal government jurisdiction over interstate commerce... I don't think so!

Republocrat...

Want to know why i fear the republics just as much as the democrats... this is another classic example of using children to further regulation. If you think one party is better than the other, consider the Republicans like adding new layers to the government to oversee the private sector (how effective is the TSA again?) and lately the Democrats have been moving towards taking over the private sector. Either way it spells bigger government and fewer individual freedoms.

I like the cut of this man's jib

This article is about cell phone jamming and how it is highly illegal in the US... except for the federal government. He makes a lot of great points that remind me quite a bit of firearm control. Especially questions such as what makes the federal government trusted and worthy of special status?

Grrr!

One of my fear buttons is always tripped when legislation is passed to "protect the children"... It is generally the beginning of a slippery slope to ceding control to the government for another area of our life. I think this is a great case in point. I could see a lot of reasons to want to track internet usage; however to go straight to "protecting our children" is a blatant appeal to emotion. Tracking all that crap isn't going to help protect our children, it's just going to increase the cost of doing business.

Atlas Shrugged

Great synopsis of Atlas Shrugged and a book well worth reading. Even if you disagree with limited government read it to get a feel for how the "other side" thinks and try to find a way to reach out.
